  Investigation / Overview

The initial investigation  were seniors that  failed their reading FCAT 4 or 5 times and have taken 4 or 5 intensive reading classes.

  1. The initial screening  was the results of their previous FCAT and in the future will be their FAIR data.  It is important  at this time that students see the benefits  of  the investigation and how it applies to them.

  2. Reading Check was administered  to  determine what students are doing and thinking as they read and answer questions.  It was graded using the Solution hand out.

  3. The  analysis of their answers was accomplished using the Analysis Matrix. It assists in determining which of  the 4 areas, needs improvement and practice.

  4. This will assist the student and teacher to provide additional focus as the course Reading to Graduate is administered.  See FAIR in the assessment section for the course of study.

  5. 66% of the seniors following the course passed their FCAT.
